MANILA, Philippines – The 4th International Congress of the Asia-Pacific Society of Infection Control (APSIC) takes place on July 5-8 at the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.
According to APSIC Executive Committee president Prof. Wing Hong Seto and organizing chairman Dr. Kong Chan, this year’s congress theme is “Controlling Infection for Safer Hospital and Safer Community,” explaining that a close connection between hospital and the community.
Controlling and preventing infection in the community is an escalating challenge as much as in the hospital, said Chan.
The congress aims to spread this knowledge and share these experiences via a roster of distinguished medical experts and practitioners from London, Hong Kong, Australia, Taiwan, Malaysia, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Argentina and Canada.
Its timelessness and importance is highlighted by the fact that the World Health Organization has raised an alert on the Influenza A(H1N1) virus.
There will also be pre-congress workshop on the theme “Endemic Readiness and Intervention,” with two invited speakers on July 5 at Harbor Plaza, Hong Kong.
Slated as well is an exhibition of scientific and professional material during the congress.
A call for abstracts on papers to be read at the congress has been issued by the organizers, namely the Asia-Pacific Society of Infection Control and International Association of Infection Control of Macau.
The choice yet again of Macau as the congress site brings into focus the attractions and facilities of the city as a convention locale.
