Asian Hospital opens Lasik Surgery Clinic

The Asian Hospital and Medical Center announced the addition of another state-of-the-art service facility with the opening of the Lasik Surgery Clinic, a dedicated hospital unit for laser vision correction.

The clinic is a part of the hospital’s continuing efforts to be among the most advanced healthcare providers in the Asia-Pacific region.

“With the opening of the Lasik Surgery Clinic, the Asian Hospital and Medical Center is again at the forefront of providing world-class medical service and cutting-edge facilities to patients here and abroad,” said Dr. Leonardo Mangubat, chairman of the hospital’s Department of Ophthalmology.

The Lasik Surgery Clinic specializes in refractive surgery (LASIK), a modern surgical process that permanently corrects refractive errors such as near-sightedness, far-sightedness, and astigmatism using laser technology.

“We take pride in offering the best laser technology at a very competitive price. Now, patients can have access to this technology and the expertise of highly trained eye surgeons, within the comforts of a modern hospital setting,” said Dr. Gabriel Juan Heredia.

For this purpose, the clinic brought into the country the VISX S4 Excimer Laser Machine, in a working partnership with the internationally known Singapore Medical Group.

Some 70 percent of US eye centers trust this fourth-generation Excimer Laser, and it will now be accessible to Asian Hospital and Medical Center patients along with the Iris Registration Technology, the Wavescan Wavefront System, the Amadeus II Intelligent Mikrokeratome, and the Orbscan.

According to Dr. Roderick Feliciano, the VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser ensures fast, safe, bloodless and painless Lasik and Epilasik procedure.

It only entails six to seven minutes per eye and the patient can experience little or no downtime at all. It also guarantees stable vision in two weeks.

“Because results are accurate and predictable with the VISX Star S4 Excimer Laser, patients are assured better quality vision — almost 98 percent 20/20 vision,” Feliciano said.

The Lasik Surgery Clinic will be manned by certified eye surgeons who have honed their skills through Lasik training abroad.

Located at the lower ground floor of the main building of the Asian Hospital and Medical Center, the clinic itself offers a friendly environment designed to make patients and their companions comfortable and relaxed.
