But now, for the first time in the Philippines, you can access your previous medical records in real time thanks to PathLink, an innovative technology developed by Asia Pacific Medical Diagnostics (APMD) Inc.
APMD is a joint venture between Australian and Filipino healthcare specialists that offers full clinical and diagnostic services, dangerous drug testing and occupational health and safety services such as work environment measurements.
APMD chief technology officer Liam Smith said PathLink is a laboratory information management system that provides customers with round-the-clock, Web-based access to their medical archives.
Unique to APMD, Smith said that through PathLink, patients can track requests for medical records from the remote satellite clinics, to the medical practitioner performing the task by using remote terminal access and instrument interface technology.
PathLink also provides patients with access to results through various methods, the most unique of which is the dial-in Remote Enquiry Service (RES).
For example, a patient anywhere in the world, who requests for, say a blood chemistry result, no longer has to visit APMD personally.
Via RES, the requested work can be tracked 24/7 on a clients computer system in real time as it is processed in the lab.
"We designed PathLink because we have always believed that medical records should always be readily accessible, no matter where the patient may be," Smith said.
In addition, Smith said PathLink plays a central role in providing the coordination and support necessary to maintain APMDs service quality and efficiency.
Complementing PathLink is APMDs range of specialty healthcare practitioners, as well as APMDs quality management system "worlds best" operating protocols, quality control and customer service.
APMD is headquartered at the third floor of the Alscophil building at 2053 Edison corner Faraday sts., San Isidro, Makati City. For more information, call 887-2145 or visit www.apdiags.com.
