MANILA, Philippines - Social Housing Finance Corp. (SHFC), the lead state agency providing flexible, affordable, innovative and responsive shelter financing solutions to underprivileged communities, recently launched a community-driven project in Roxas City aimed at promoting recovery and rehabilitation for families devastated by Super Typhoon Yolanda. In partnership with UN-Habitat Philippines, the Government of Japan, and the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council, the project will facilitate training programs for 250 local semi-skilled artisans in disaster risk resilient housing construction to help them build 610 typhoon-resistant homes. At the ribbon cutting ceremony for a newly-constructed pilot house in Villa Carmel Village, Brgy.
