Anti-dengue campaign gets boost

MANILA, Philippines - The Rotary Club District 3820 got a shot in the arm recently when a leading chemical company, BASF Philippines, Inc., donated high performance residual insecticides for mosquito control for use in its anti-dengue campaign.

Upgreen Corporation, a known provider of patented and scientific pest control systems and the exclusive distributor of BASF products (Fendona, Stedfast, and Abate) in the Philippines, has made good on its promise to support the Club’s continuing efforts to control and prevent the spread of dengue in its member-communities by initially turning over 5,000 sachets of Fendona 5WP (Wettable Powder) recently.

The simple turnover ceremony was held during the club’s weekly meeting in Los Baños, Laguna, and was witnessed by Roberto Bautista, Rotary Club Los Baños president, and Eladio Baradas, Rotary Club District 3820 assistant governor.

On hand to personally turn over the insecticides to Chit Lijauco, governor of Rotary Club District 3820, were Karina Althea T. Herrera, business manager of BASF together with Aileen Fernandez and Jay Tolentino, top executives of Upgreen Corporation.

In her acceptance speech, Lijauco lauded the timing of the donation from Upgreen, saying that the insecticides have come at a most opportune time when dengue outbreak is starting once again.
