MANILA, Philippines - One of the premium Grade A office buildings in the country and strategically located at the heart of Makati’s bustling central business district, the award-winning The Enterprise Center is home to many of the Philippines’ most prestigious companies and its top-level decision-makers.
These classically designed twin-towers are equipped with state-of-the-art office support utility systems and amenities such as multiple entrances and exits, seven levels of underground parking that can accommodate 1,200 vehicles, an international food court that can seat over 1,000 people, 34 hi-speed elevators, and even a helipad for convenient air transport.
But more than its impressive façade and interiors, what really makes The Enterprise Center stand out from the rest is its firm commitment to the environment and its concern for tenants.
The Enterprise Center zealously applied energy efficiency and conservation concepts, systems and technologies to minimize energy and power consumption and conversely maximize savings, at the same time elevating service quality. Among these initiatives are the installation of the Waste Air Recovery System, a wind turbine that produces enough electricity to power lighting in the machine room and fire exit staircases; and the Condensate Water Recovery System, which recycles condensation from air conditioning units for other uses.
An Energy Management Program and an Energy Conservation Team were established to prescribe and implement a sustainable Energy Management Policy that has allowed the center to reduce its power consumption by a remarkable 27 percent per year despite continued increase in tenant occupancy, translating to a savings of 5,436,945 kw-hr per year.
And, in the middle of this concrete jungle, a vegetable garden at the building’s rooftop was created and cultivated, growing organic vegetables such as pechay, tomatoes, okra, ampalaya, mustasa, sile, kamote, gabi, alugbati, and eggplant.
It is therefore no surprise that The Enterprise Center has won awards and international recognition for its initiatives to protect the environment, the most recent of which was the ASEAN Energy Awards “Energy-Efficient Building — Retrofitted Category” in 2008. It also recently won its second “Special Award for Energy Efficiency and Conservation” from the Don Emilio Abello Energy Efficient Awards.
Tenants continue to enjoy several standout amenities such as the automatic hand sanitizers, as well as automatic umbrella dressing machines situated at the entrances. The building is also the first to use the GT200 system, which allows for a fast and efficient security inspection of incoming vehicles.
