SMIC partners with WWF for Hamilo Coast

SM Investments Corporation (SMIC) has recently signed a contract with global conservation organization, WWF-Philippines, which aims to ensure environmental and social sustainability for their pioneer eco-tourism project, Hamilo Coast.

“This is the first community in the Philippines that will be designed for ecological sustainability, rather than retrofitting the program,” says WWF-Philippines President, Lory Tan.

Envisioned to embody the ideals of sustainable eco-tourism that underscores the Philippine’s rich biodiversity, WWF-Philippines’ contingent of environmental experts will supervise the efforts of several conservation initiatives designed to maintain ecological sustainability from development to operations. This will prioritize Coastal Resource Management, designed to revive the marine habitats along the coastline; Ecological Foot-printing, a program that intends to measure the impact of Hamilo Coast on the biological capacity of Nasugbu; and Soil Stabilization, which ensures the preservation of the property during the construction phase.

With the intention of letting Hamilo Coast develop into a vibrant tourism and leisure destination that upholds the balance between nature and modern living, both organizations are working towards implementing programs designed to preserve and enhance the ecological features that make Hamilo Coast stand out in a growing and competitive industry.

“What is most exciting about this partnership is that a company of this size has decided to go green, and instead of retrofitting our program to an already existing development, Hamilo Coast is actually already working with eco-consultants to lay the groundwork for sustainability,” Tan adds.

Hamilo Coast is an Eco-Tourism Project of SM Investments Corporation that enlivens a vision of Tourism-Real Estate; a truly world class development that all Filipinos can be proud of and enjoy for generations to come. For more information, visit our website at www.hamilocoast.com.
