The 65-hectare Greenfield Auto Park (GAP) is an industrial estate that is home base to automobile company Ford Motor Company Philippines, among other high-profile investors. GDCs vice president for suburban development Duane Santos offered that its also unusual to have an industrial park as centrally located as GAP: "Most industrial parks are in far-flung areas, where the next commercial establishment is miles away; youre practically in the middle of nowhere. Here, its ideally located. Aside from being next to Ford and other major institutions, the location is just unparalleled. Its a master-planned mixed-use development, which none of the other industrial parks are."
Santos added that the presence of Ford actually gives a lot of prestige to the industrial park. "One of the biggest companies in the world has acknowledged that the GAP can provide all the necessary services to accommodate the manufacturing plant of a world-class institution. It has been an excellent selling point for the whole industrial park. But were actually also focusing on light-industry manufacturing plants; its not necessarily totally auto-related."
Nearby is the Automall, a five-hectare retail automotive center providing all the services, products and accessories for automotive-related establishments. Santos elaborated about its significance. "The Automall will have dealerships, service centers, accessory stores, even second-hand car-selling establishments. Theyre all in this integrated community, which is similar to Quezon Citys Banawe district, but definitely more manicured and more pristine, and a bit more organized. Its actually adjacent to the GAP. Its but right to have a retail automotive center in Sta. Rosa after all, Santa Rosa is now known as Little Detroit, the moniker inspired by the center of the automobile industry in the US."
