NBI nabs 2 sisters for exploiting girl, 11
MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation arrested two sisters for allegedly sexually exploiting an 11-year-old girl, the NBI announced yesterday.
The victim is a daughter of one of the suspects, according to NBI chief Jaime Santiago.
Olga Angustia-Gonzales, who heads the NBI Anti-Human Trafficking Division, said the operation was conducted based on information provided by a non-government organization.
The NBI probe showed that the mother has been pimping the teenager since she was five years old.
The mother allegedly sold explicit photos and videos of the girl to foreign clients for P25,000.
The suspects are facing non-bailable complaints for violating the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, as well as the law on anti-online sexual abuse and special protection of children against abuse.
Santiago said poverty is no excuse for illegal activities.
“The girl suffered trauma, making this a qualified online abuse case due to the exploitation by her own mother,” Santiago said.
