MANILA, Philippines – Peugeot Philippines, in cooperation with CAVITEX, EasyDrive, Total Philippines Corporation & Pico de Loro, recently conducted its amazing Southern Sojourn Drive – aboard a parade of Peugeot’s premium vehicles, highlighting their newly-launched urban mini crossover: The Peugeot 2008! The ride and drive took off from Total Newport in Pasay and took us all the way to the delightful Pico de Loro resort in Batangas. Our route was via the scenic Hamilo Coast, accessed through CAVITEX and the Ternate-Nasugbu road; while our actual drive experience was seamless, thanks to CAVITEX’s handy EasyDrive facility – an express-toll facility that makes use of detecting RFID stickers attached on a vehicle’s headlight to allow for fast, efficient and cashless breezing through, more-often-than-not, queued toll booths. Meanwhile, our entire Peugeot fleet was powered with Total Excellium fuel.
I was more than happy to drive the Peugeot 2008 urban mini crossover; it is one of those cars that upon my inspection, felt would be nice for me to have. At just 4.16m long, it offers great ease in parking and cutting through traffic, without making me feel that my safety was compromised. The vehicle is practically a hybrid that combines the strengths of a hatchback with the convenience of a crossover – something which has not yet quite been offered in the Philippine market. And as an extra treat, the vehicle sports a lovely panoramic glass roof – completing that delightful drive experience that I like to have when en route to my favorite holiday destination. The interior feels very spacious, in fact, surprisingly spacious, after having observed the car’s modest size for the first time, from the outside. Moreover, the boot sports a low loading sill, making it a lot easier to load and unload luggage and equipment necessary for your active journey.
I felt comfortable and well-seated in this new 2008, with a commanding view of the road while sat on the car’s leather body-hugging seat, with an ergonomic steering wheel and further assisted by the car’s well-architectured i-Cockpit. The car provides for thoughtful head-up dials that allow you to constantly check your driving stats without having to take your eyes off the road. All these elements make the 2008 an amazing vehicle that highlights comfort, space, classiness and safety. This clearly is one of the more impressive offerings in the B-segment today.
The 2008 exploits a 1.6L petrol engine that delivers 120HP alongside quite agreeable emission ratings in its class, thanks to the premise of its lightness and efficiency. It is now available in Peugeot dealerships nationwide with an introductory price of P1,390,000.
