MANILA, Philippines - “Love. It’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru,†has been the Japanese automaker’s slogan for the North American market for quite some time. Though the Philippines is sticking to the international slogan, “Confidence in Motion,†it seems a bit of the love is rubbing onto Philippine distributor, Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP).
Just last week, MIP launched the Subaru Love Drive—a program where they aim to pay it forward to people and animals that need it the most. With the Subaru Love Drive, MIP is aiming to raise and donate P500,000 to two beneficiaries: the Hospicio de San Jose and the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)—with the help of Subaru owners.
Under the first part of the Subaru Love Drive, every Subaru sold from now until February 2014 (fittingly the month of Valentine’s Day) equates to a P1,000 donation to the Subaru Love Drive fund. This initiative is a first for Motor Image Pilipinas and has one objective: to drive home a message of charity and hope. By the end of February, MIP hopes to raise P500,000 for both beneficiaries.
The second part of the Subaru Love Drive entails a Love Drive Wall on MIP’s official website (www.motorimage.net/PH). On the Love Drive Wall, people can show their support by selecting a list of items to donate to either to Hospicio de San Jose or PAWS, and turning over their pledged goods to any of Subaru’s eight showrooms nationwide: Greenhills, Global City, Alabang, Pampanga, Batangas, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao for collection.
The Hospicio de San Jose is the first welfare agency in the Philippines and has been a home to orphans, elderly, and abandoned and special children. The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is a volunteer-based NGO whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering, and advocacy.
With all of MIP’s recent success, the Subaru Love Drive is the company’s way of giving back. Indeed, the Subaru Love Drive proves that love is indeed what makes a Subaru, a Subaru; or in this case, makes a Subaru owner.
