MANILA, Philippines - The recently concluded 2012 quattro Cup Philippines proved as resilient as the technology for which it was named. Even during the onslaught of Typhoon Ofel, over 120 participants took to the links of Malarayat Golf and Country Club to battle it out for this year’s champ of the 4th edition of the amateur tourney. Golfers played through heavy rains and strong wind and competed for the honor of representing the Philippines in the Audi quattro Cup World Finals to be held in Western Cape, South Africa.

The event culminated in a playoff held last October 30 with golfers vying for the final spot. This year’s competition also took on a different dynamic. Aside from the tournament champions, participants were also divided into four divisions, and a winner was chosen among each group. The new Audi A1 1.4 TFSI was also at stake as hole-in-one prize.

In the end, Manny Angeles and his tournament partner, Marvin Caparros emerged as the 2012 quattro Cup Philippines champions and representatives of the Philippines in the World Final. Angeles and Caparros will be leaving for South Africa this November. The following also emerged as Division Champions: Dennis Huang and Elmer Lapena for Division 4; Ray Panlilio and Arcadio Tolentino for Division 3; Neofelio del Corro and Marvin Albert Pizarro for Division 2; and Nestor Sales and Raphael Tolentino for Division 1.

The awarding ceremony was headed by PGA Cars Chairman Robert Coyiuto Jr., and Audi Philippines Head, Benedicto T. Coyiuto.

This year’s tournament has proven that, once again, bad weather is no match for Audi quattro. The tenacity of organizers and participants alike made this year’s tournament a great success.

The Audi Quattro Cup Golf Tournament series was established in 1991 in Germany. Last year, Audi dealers from 52 countries worldwide organized a total of 785 tournaments and over 90,200 amateur golfers participated. Over one million golfers took part in one of the Audi Quattro Cup tournaments during the last 21 years.
