Castrol's search for young racers is on

MANILA, Philippines – Young kids aged seven to 13 years old have a chance to live up their racing dreams as Castrol Philippines and Tuason Racing School, the country’s longest running professional racing school and one of the premier racing schools in Asia, stage the second “Castrol Champions of the Future” or COF. COF is a grassroots karting program that aims to discover potential racing champions. The Clinic/Screening is set on April 1 and 15 at the Carmona Racetrack.

This year, the two main project proponents Castrol and Tuason Racing School got the support of corporate sponsors BMW, Automobile Association Philippines, Philippine International Karting Association (PIKA), OMP, AUTS Racing, Industria Racing, Lifeline Ambulance, KZone, The Philippine STAR and TimeZone in the thrust of discovering future karting champions and continuing the transition of talents to intensify the development of Philippine motorsports.

The karting clinics will provide these young aspiring racing wannabes the basics of racing and other techniques under the tutelage of multi-titled champions JP and Mike Tuason.

Twenty of young kids will be chosen from hundreds of aspirants and will be given a chance to race at subsidized cost at the three legged COF Race series starting on April 22, 2012.

“The number of aspiring young kids who joined the first batch is really quite inspiring. And we consider this as a big step in the fulfillment of our dream of seeing a future Filipino champion in the Formula One Racing scene,” said Castrol president Mars Sota.

“We believe Motorsports is the next sport that Filipinos will excel in globally. This is the first step to ensure that. We hope that one of them will rise to be the next Karter of the Year and possibly a F1 world racing champion,” added TRS president JP Tuason.

Products of the said program also glittered and carved their own milestones like Raymond Cudala, William Casequin, Arthur Tuason, and Flynn Jackes who made it in the top 5 of the Cadet SQ Expert class, and so with Bryan Thorp, Gabe Tayao, Dylan Arambulo, Xedrei Daquigan and Jose Luigi Lachica in the Cadet SQ Novice division.
