MANILA, Philippines - Petron Lakbay Alalay is the country’s longest running motorist assistance program.
Twenty five years ago, the highways going to Northern and Southern Philippines were mere shadows compared to the expressways we drive through today. Yet, Petron Corporation has been a leading pioneer, instituting a motorist assistance program during the summer months — typically, the peak traveling period.
This year, as Petron celebrates the twenty-fifth year of its Lakbay Alalay (a registered trademark of Petron Corporation) motorist assistance program, they have expanded the scope from mere breakdown assistance to include preventive maintenance and safety checks. This is in line with Petron’s advocacy for road safety and through its Lakbay Alalay, now includes a comprehensive package of activities, services and products. What’s more, Petron has expanded the coverage for its Lakbay Alalay program to include the entire summer season from mid-March to the end of May.
Free Service Checks
At participating Petron service stations and car care centers, motorists can be assured of safe and worry-free travel thanks to a free 15-point service check-up that includes inspection on vital areas of your car including tire pressure, oil and radiator water levels as well as the condition of your tires and brakes. All in all, this ensures that your car is roadworthy and capable of bringing you to your destination.
Emergency Roadside Assistance
Just as in previous Lakbay Alalays, Petron volunteers will spend weekends providing emergency roadside assistance at designated Petron stations along major toll roads and highways. For the motorists’ safety and convenience, they can also provide free minor repairs, first aid and emergency phone call services.
Mobile Lakbay Alalay
With everyone connected using their mobile devices nowadays, Petron has unveiled a mobile version of their Lakbay Alalay. Travelers can sign up to receive road safety tips as well as car care and service reminders delivered straight to their mobile phone.
GPS Maps
Afraid of getting lost? If you need travel directions, all you need to do now is to go to selected Petron stations. Once there, they can safety check route maps provided by GPS and ask for a route printout from the Petron-GPS kiosks.
Lakbay Alalay Tour Guide
Supporting the Department of Tourism’s local tourism promotions initiative, Petron is developing a web-based program featuring popular domestic destination. Travelers can check out information about their intended destination as well as things to see or do there.
Petron eFuel Card
Previously offered only for corporate and VIP individuals, ordinary motorists can now avail of the Petron eFuel Card. Serving as a reloadable debit card, motorists don’t need to bring a lot of cash to pay for their fuel. The Petron eFuel Card is widely accepted at Petron service stations nationwide.
As the Philippines’s largest oil refining and marketing company, Petron supplies early 40 percent of the country’s total fuel requirements. With more than 1,500 service stations — the largest service station network in the country — Petron’s Lakbay Alalay motorist assistance program is a definite help to those who plan on doing a road trip this summer season.
Lakbay Alalay is run by Petron employee-volunteers as part of the company’s “volunteerism in action” philosophy. It shows how Petron Corporation is giving back to the Filipino motorists who have trusted the brand for providing their fuel needs be it gasoline, diesel or kerosene.
