MANILA, Philippines - Goodyear Philippines would like to encourage motorists to be pro-active in making their traditional Holy Week travel safer as they partner with Chevron in the Caltex Ka-Road Trip Motorist Assistance Program running from March 31, April 1, April 3 and April 4, 2010.
Many motorists are making plans to travel in the Holy Week, and since numerous road accidents result from worn-out tires, motorists who drop by select Caltex stations will be offered the opportunity to have their tire treads checked for free with the use of a tread depth indicator.
“Remember at any point when driving, you are banking on a post-card sized portion of your tires that actually hit the road. It is a necessary precaution worth taking than to gamble with your life and lives of your passengers,” said Gerry Alava, Goodyear Philippines Managing Director.
Motorists will also be taught a handy trick called the P5-coin test to check their tire’s wear and tear. This can be done simply by inserting the P5 coin into the tire tread right side up. As long as the wavy line at the bottom of the coin is not exposed, the tire treads are not worn out and have adequate grip for safe driving.
Participating Caltex stations are located in Rosario, La Union; Dau, Mabalacat; Tarlac, Tarlac; Upper Session Road, Baguio; and De La Salle, Lipa, Batangas. For more road safety tips, log on to www.goodyear.com.ph.
