‘Launching Dreams’

It was a grand celebration indeed as Metrobank Foun- dation marked its 35th anniversary at Le Pavilion located at Metropolitan Park in Pasay City. Among the highlights were the unveiling of the Dream Exhibit; the conferment of the Award for Continuing Excellence and Service (ACES), a citation given to past winners who have continued to stand out in their respective fields after having honored by the Metrobank Foundation for their achievements; the presentation of the Partners in Empowerment, Advocacy, and Commitment to Excellence (PEACE); and the presen- tation of the Distinguished Leadership Award for Service to Humanity to the late president Corazon C. Aquino which was received by her daughter, Pinky Aquino-Abellada. Metrobank Foundation chairman Dr. George S. K. Ty was also awarded the Grand Exemplar Medallion for “his distin- guished leadership, generous spirit, compassion, and out- standing achievements” that has contributed to the growth of the nation. Cardinal Tagle was the guest of honor at the festivities led by Metrobank Foundation president Aniceto Sobrepeña. Our paper, The Philippine Star, was also cited “for espousing the value of excellence and its invaluable support to Metrobank Foundation and by featuring stories of inspirations, courage, heroism, bravery, resourcefulness, and innovativeness of the awardees of its various excel- lence recognition programs, including other newsworthy features about its programs on education, social develop- ment, healthcare, and calamity assistance.” Congratula- tions to the awardees! You all deserve the honor!
