MMLDC and Siemens affirm strong partnership

MANILA, Philippines - The Meralco Management and Leadership Development Center (MMLDC) recently signed a memorandum of agreement with Siemens Inc. Philippines in the spirit of its continuing collaborations with like-minded entities that share its commitment to serve the education and power sectors.

Technology solutions firm Siemens Inc. Philippines, the local unit of the Germany-based global electrical engineering conglomerate, has been a supplier of Meralco’s power transmission and distribution requirements since the 1960s. In honor of its enduring partnership with Meralco, it has sponsored the renovation of MMLDC’s Business Center, which has since been renamed the Siemens Business Center.

The memorandum signing took place at the MMLDC facility along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo. Present during the signing were Meralco chairman & CEO and MMLDC chairman & president Manuel M. Lopez; Siemens Inc., Philippines president & CEO Adrian Wood; Siemens Inc., Philippines vice president & head of energy sector Jorel Nuyda; Siemens KPT CEO Ivan Mulcic; Siemens KPT head of sales & marketing Darko Juzbasic; Meralco HR and corporate services head and MMLDC vice president Leonisa C. De La Llana. Also in attendance were the MMLDC Board of Trustees, as well as the senior executives of Siemens Philippines and Meralco.

Lopez highlighted the auspicious timing of the signing, given that MMLDC has just celebrated its 10th year of successful operations and partnerships. He takes pride in how much the Center has accomplished in the past decade, and believes in greater success for both MMLDC’s constituents and its collaborators. Meralco executives who have trained at the Center attest to the effectiveness of its holistic development programs. Lopez also expressed his appreciation to Siemens Inc. Philippines: “I believe you’re making a very worthy investment. This strengthens not only our partnership but the quality of our professionals in Meralco.”

Wood underscored the parallel visions between Siemens and Meralco with regard to people development. He believes that an ongoing, reinforced partnership would be beneficial to both companies. Wood expressed optimism in Siemens’ continued partnership with Meralco which is based on a genuine commitment to serve the energy needs of communities throughout the country.
