MANILA, Philippines - Annual nutrition education advocacy Laki Sa Gatas is gearing up to educate more Filipinos about the value of proper nutrition this SY 2009-2010.
“Laki Sa Gatas encourages children to practice proper nutrition by drinking at least two glasses of milk and eating the right amounts of Go, Grow, and Glow foods everyday,” says Eugene David, Nestle Philippines Inc. (NPI) Business Executive Manager for Dairy Health and Nutrition Solutions, the makers of Bear Brand Powdered Milk Drink.
The advocacy has prepared more educational, fun, and exciting activities for children, mothers, and teachers for this school year. In a Laki Sa Gatas session, grades 2 and 3 pupils are treated to fun and learning activities to help them understand proper nutrition. They are likewise entertained by Bear Brand Powdered Milk Drink mascots, Mama Bear and Kuya Bear.
The highlight of the children’s session is giving the kids “ambition glasses” with blank papers where they can draw the jobs they want to pursue when they grow up. Their drawings will serve as a reminder that a healthy mind and body can help them achieve their dreams.
Laki Sa Gatas has visited over 2,700 schools across the country and has reached out to more than 1.2 million schoolchildren since it started three years ago.
