The Meralco Development Center (MMLDC) has established a reputation among companies and groups who are into “serious” activities – planning their sales strategies, forecasting their growth, or keenly developing human resources.
But unknown to many, MMLDC is also a venue for group “fun” with the center’s outdoor amenities like the paintball ground and the high ropes – fostering strong ties and bonding among diverse groups such as call center agents, sales people, or even teachers and principals.
“MMLDC has a very imposing façade and once you get inside, the structures in the center can somewhat overwhelm the first-time visitor,” said Agnes Fidelino, MMLDC’s managing director. “But when you go around, you can feel that there’s a sense of relaxation and freedom because the center is surrounded by a green environment. That makes MMLDC very conducive for outdoor activities.”
Agnes revealed that through the years that top organizations and companies such as Meralco, Deutsche Knowledge Services, Accenture, Bayantel, Eastwest Bank, and many others, including local government units (LGUs), have availed of the training offered at the center. Most of them continue to use MMLDC as a venue not only for business-related matters but also for group fun activities.
“We always believe that there should be a balance between work and fun. That makes professionals more productive and creative in the long run,” said Agnes. She cited that MMLDC’s facilities have made it possible for large groups to have an exciting experience in the center.
“We have a swimming pool, billiard tables, and gym for those who are into physical activities. For the more daring ones, we have an outdoor high ropes facility which includes a wall climb, rappel, a slide-for-life, two-rope bridge, the High-Y, the tension traverse, and tamper pole, among others. Groups can avail of these facilities with the assistance of MMLDC personnel,” she said.
For other recreational options, Agnes recommends a paintball activity or the Amazing Race/ Treasure Hunt program. Companies such as Holcim, Smart Communications and Convergys have already experienced how fulfilling it is to have their teambuilding at the center. Aside from the outdoor facilities, MMLDC has group rooms with is perfect for team bonding and fellowship.
“These companies always appreciate that MMLDC is a very flexible venue. We can custom-fit the fun packages depending on the requirement of the company,” said Agnes. After all the activities for the day, groups can still have fun at night with sumptuous food at the Areva Pavilion where videoke facilities are available. For those into wellness and rejuvenation, MMLDC also offers spa treatments, taichi and yoga. Aside from facilities for groups, MMLDC also caters to the family since the venue allows leisurely walks among the greens, family bonding at the pool and the aviary which is highlighted by a fun yet educational bird show.
