Forum on Asean banking integration

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Employer-Labor Social Partnership Inc. (PELSPI) will sponsor a forum in cooperation with the Banking Industry Tripartite Council (BITC) on the upcoming integration of the banking sector in Asean, the first of a series of industry fora. The group is advocating for social dialogue as a means of resolving issues and moving the economy forward. Presently, PELSPI counts among its members a number of leading industrialists, trade union leaders, and academicians. The forum will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at the Century Park Hotel Manila, the PELSPI-BITC Forum on Asean Banking Integration will dwell on the following: the entry of foreign banks in the Philippine banking system; the impact of Republic Act 106412 or the law that paves the way for the entry of established, reputable and financially sound foreign banks; the position of employers; and, the position of labor.
