DBP garners Asian Banking award

The Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) received the 2004 Asian Banking Award for its Sustainable Logistics Development Program (SLDP) which was adjudged the best development project financing program. The award was presented during the Asia Pacific Bankers Congress in ceremonies held last March 26 at the Century Park Hotel.

Considered the most prestigious banking awards program in the region, the Asian Banking Awards aims to recognize and promote best banking practices. Some 107 projects submitted by 49 banks in 15 countries vied for an award under eight categories, namely: SME Financing Product or Service, Development Project Financing Program, Fund Sourcing Product or Program, Risk Management Product or Program, Micro-Finance Product/Program, Marketing, PR or Brand Management Program, Customer Service Program, and Operational Efficiency Program.

The state-owned bank is one of the seven Asian banks which won the judges’ nod this year for implementing or enhancing outstanding and innovative products, services, projects and programs during the previous year. The other winners include the International Commercial Bank of China, DBS Bank, PT Bank Mandiri, OCBC Bank, Jammu & Kashmir Bank, and Taiwan Business Bank.

DBP’s SLDP was cited as the best medium to long-term program designed or significantly enhanced the past year to develop, promote, or improve a particular industry, business sector, area, or in support of a specific government development program.
