MANILA, Philippines - Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) has joined the steering committee of the Business Climate Action Summit for 2011 organized by the Philippine Business for the Environment (PBE).
The summit aims to get more companies to commit to targets and reduce emissions in specific areas like transport, energy, agriculture and reforestation, solid waste and sustainable cities.
Lisa Antonio, PBE executive director, said preparations for the summit which will be held March 29 at the Intercon Hotel are now being finalized to ensure the success of this event.
The active participation and support of JFC to this endeavor is a concrete way of showing that – aside from always offering the best to its customers – the Jollibee Group of Companies is unwavering in its commitment to corporate social responsibility – and this means playing a major part in protecting our environment and conserving our natural resources.
The practice of going green has been seamlessly integrated in the business processes of JFC. Jollibee is one of the few companies which has a unit dedicated to the environment. The office is under the vice-president for engineering who reports directly to the chief operating officer.
JFC uses environment friendly paint formulations that do not contain harmful chemicals. These paints are eco-efficient and last longer. The company also makes use of fiber cement boards on steel frames for their drywall partitions and ceiling assemblies. These boards are asbestos-free, 100 percent recyclable, non-combustible, inorganic and termite proof. They also specify the use of light colored roofing materials which reflect heat resulting in a cooler building and lower electrical bills.
