Cavite State U hosts study tour

INDANG, Cavite – The Cavite State University in this town, in cooperation with the Asian Institute of Development Studies, Inc., will conduct a Study Tour Program on Processing and Marketing of Vegetable and Fruit Crops in the Philippines for the six officials of the Agricultural Diversification and Intensification Project (ADIP) of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, from June 17 — 27, according to CvSU president, Dr. Ruperto Sangalang.

The program aimed at enhancing the technical know-how of ADIP Officials through updating their knowledge system and upgrading their skills on the processing and marketing of vegetable and fruit crops as well as inculcating in them favorable attitude towards food processing.

After the theoretical orientation of the program, the group will visit the small and medium-scale as well as commercial food processors in Cavite and Metro Manila including the food processing and marketing centers of the Cavite State University; Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet; and Central Luzon State University in the Science City of Munoz, Nueva Ecija.

Likewise, the group will observe the facilities of the Postharvest Horticulture Training and Research Center, College of Food Science and Technology, and College of Engineering and Technology of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, Laguna.

Since mid 1980s, the Cavite State University (former Don Severino Agricultural College) was designated as the National Training and Demonstration Center for Fruits and Vegetable-Based Products (NTDC-FVBP) by the Department of Science and Technology and Department of Trade and Industry.
