Lapu-Lapu City now 2-0 in Gov’s Cup U18 hoops
CEBU, Philippines — Lapu-Lapu City blasted San Remigio, 74-52, for its second straight win in the Governor’s Cup Under-18 Basketball Tournament.
John Clyde Undag and Johnrou Matidios scored 13 points each, while Ryan Reynes added 11 points, three rebounds, four assists, six steals and two blocks in an all-around performance for the Oponganon ballers.
Meanwhile, the cities of Talisay, Carcar and Naga from Cebu’s First District opened their campaign with lopsided victories, as did Pinamungajan and Sibonga.
Talisay routed Barili, 99-49, Carcar downed Badian, 75-57, while Naga hammered Alcantara, 83-52.
Five Talisay players cracked double figures, led by Carl Vincent Cabriana with 12 points. Jan Lawrence Saz chipped in 11, while Deron Abapo, Red Mabala and Zaijan Cabanes contributed with 10 points apiece.
Dee Andre Ruiz and Vincent Alburo led Carcar with identical 13 points, while Exsier Pantigone and Kirk Patrick Tampos tallied 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
Vince Ahron Alfanta paced Naga with 11 points, followed by Andri Luna with 10.
Yakovic Siarot bagged 17 points and Jade Terrado nailed 14 points to power Pinamungajan to a 93-62 thrashing of Oslob, while Carl James Abella and Chresler John Medina combined for 44 points to propel Sibonga to an 85-53 demolition of Aloguinsan.
In other results, Catmon whipped Daanbantayan, 67-42, Asturias edged Tabogon, 76-73, while Dalaguete prevailed over Santander, 67-61.
