Monteverde kumpiyansa sa kanyang bataan
MANILA, Philippines — Kumpiyansa si University of the Philippines head coach Goldwin Monteverde sa kakayahan ng kanyang mga bataan na lalaro sa UAAP Season 89 collegiate men’s basketball tournament.
Masusubukan ang lakas ng UP sa pagharap nila sa tigasing University of Santo Tomas sa alas-6 ng gabi na lalaruin sa Araneta Coliseum.
“Opening games always come with excitement and nerves. Can we stay composed? Can we execute? Can we defend consistently? And when things don’t go our way, how do we respond? Looking forward on how we start things off this Sunday,” sabi ni Monteverde.
Ipaparada ng Fighting Maroons ang panargo nila sa opensa na si VeeJay Pre, makakasama nito sina Noy Remogat, Gani Stevens, Jacob Bayla, Nigerian Francis Nnoruka at James Payosing.
“We want to be tough, disciplined and smart. That’s something we’ve been emphasizing throughout the preseason. We want teams to feel us when they play against us. We’re not there yet, but that’s the standard we’re trying to build everyday,”ani Monteverde.
“So my realistic goal is that we can win the championship this year. I think we’re that talented. But of course, you know, if we’re going to win the championship, we have to make it to the final round. So realistically, our goal is the Final Four, and that was the goal when we first came in,” pahayag ni FEU coach Sean Chambers.
