MANILA, Philippines — Unbeaten champion National U tries to widen the gap from its challengers when it takes on University of the Philippines in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball today at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.

Game time is at 11 a.m. with the in-form Lady Bulldogs eyeing their ninth win in as many games opposite the Fighting Maroons (3-5) to create farther distance from fellow contenders La Salle, Santo Tomas and Far Eastern U with similar 5-3 slates at second to fourth place.

FEU, for its part, shoots for solo second spot versus winless University of the East (0-8) at 5 p.m. as the race for the coveted twice-to-beat incentives heats up.

In men’s play, four-peat champion NU (6-2) seeks a rebound against UP (2-6) at 9 a.m. after a stunning loss to La Salle (5-3) while FEU (8-0) aims to extend its perfect campaign against winless UE (0-8) at 3 p.m.

NU, led by Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon, has won two of the last three championships in the UAAP.

Maintaining a perfect record, however, is not a walk in the park especially against an expected fiery revenge bid from the Fighting Maroons after NU’s easy 25-13, 25-23, 25-22 win in the first round.

UP is coming off a tough loss to Ateneo.
