CEBU, Philippines — Jason Arquisola s Team C fended off Team A of Chase Cokaliong, 88-85, to emerge as back-to-back champions of the annual Chase Tower Runs (CTR) Liga Familia last Tuesday, December 17, at the Cokaliong Tower basketball court.

Miguel Gastador, known as the Cebuano Rocket for his high-leaping ability, showed the way for Team C with 22 points on top of seven rebounds.

Rendell Senining added 15 points, two rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block, while Froilan Mangubat and Mark Panerio combined for 27 points for the winning side under the guidance of playing coach Paul Joven, who contributed five points, eight rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Team A actually scored the game s first five points but Team C battled back with savvy to seize control of the match with a 41-30 advantage midway in the second period.

Team A rallied to regain the upper hand, 73-71, after three quarters, but Team C fought steadier down the stretch to scrape through a thrilling three-point victory.

 Jerome Napao paced Team A with a solid double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds while Dolan Adlawan posted 15 points, seven rebounds, one assist and two blocks in a losing cause.

John Michael Abad and Arc Gabriel Araw-araw tallied 24 markers in between them but their efforts went for naught for Team A.

In the battle for third place, Jancork Cabahug delivered a monter double-double show of 36 points and 20 rebounds to power Team B to a 99-93 beating of Team E in come-from-behind fashion.

Shane Menina chipped in with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals, Fletcher Galvez scored 14 laced with nine boards, four assists and two steals while Iron Suano contributed 11 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals for Team B.

Ted Saga dropped 22 points, 21 rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead Team E. JM Tumabang netted 17 points, while Acer Go and Giovanni Padillo combined for 29 points but fell short in the end.
