PICE chess tourney set for July 13

CEBU, Philippines — In line with its 51st anniversary celebration, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) will be staging an open chess tournament on July 13 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

A total of P50,000 in cash prize will be given away to the top finishers of the nine-round Swiss system competition.

The champion will go home P10,000 richer, while the second to sixth placers will pocket P7,000, P5,000, P3,000, P2,000, and P1,500, respectively.

The seventh and eighth will receive P1,000 each while the ninth and 10th will get P800 and P700. The 11th to 15th will claim P500 apiece and the 16th to 20th P300.

The top three PICE members, seniors (60-above), ladies, Under 8, Under 12 Under 16, and Under 20 players will have a special prize of P1,000, P500, and P300.

Registration fee is pegged at P300.
