MANILA, Philippines — D&L Industries Inc. has secured a gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for its newly operational plant in Batangas.
D&L’s Central Hub is a six-story building that houses the central command center of the Batangas plant which monitors all key environmental elements.
With its various features which adhere to the prerequisites that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health and indoor environmental quality, the building earned a gold rating, the second highest rating under LEED.
There are only about 42 LEED platinum and gold-certified buildings in the Philippines to date.
D&L said the Central Hub is 20 percent more energy efficient than non-green buildings, with the building’s water recycling system alone generates a 67 percent average savings from baseline or equivalent to one Olympic-sized pool in annual water savings.
D&L’s Batangas plant showcases state of the art technology in manufacturing as well as global best practices in incorporating sustainability in operations.
Among its key features are sustainability-designed buildings, renewable fuel sources, centralized chilled water system, smart water metering and water recycling programs.
