Philippines firms among outstanding companies in survey

MANILA, Philippines — Fifteen Philippine listed companies joined the roster of outstanding firms in the region in the recently concluded Asiamoney 2022 Asia’s Outstanding Companies Poll.

The recognition was based on the corporations’ financial performance, management team excellence, investor relations, and CSR initiatives.

The list is based on results of a poll among 958 fund managers, analysts and bankers concluded on July 15 and which garnered 4,620 votes for listed companies across 12 markets in Asia. The results recognize 175 companies as being outstanding in their sectors and in their markets.

In the Philippines, the awardees were Century Pacific Food (mid cap); BDO Unibank (banking); Bloomberry Resorts (casino); DMCI Holdings Inc. (engineering); Robinsons Retail and Wilcon Depot (consumer); Universal Robina Corp. (consumer staples); ACEN (energy); Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (materials); SM Prime (real estate); Converge ICT Solutions (software and internet services); Globe Telecom (telecommunication); International Container Terminal Services Inc. (transportation); Manila Electric Co. (utilities) and Monde Nissin for Most Outstanding IPO.

Commenting on the recognition, DMCI chairman Isidro Consunji said: “We are honored to receive these recognitions because they reflect the hard work of our people and the strong support of our capital market stakeholders.”

Other known companies recognized across the region include Singapore Airlines (Singapore), China Telecom (China); Siam Cement Group (Thailand); Pakistan Telecommunication (Pakistan) Sime Darby, Malaysia, Bermaz Auto and Malaysia Airports (Malaysia); Hyundai (Korea); Tata Steel (India); HSBC, Galaxy Entertainment Group and China Mobile (Hong Kong).

Malaysia had the most number of awardees with 24 companies while Korea had only three.

Asiamoney is a financial publication established in 1989, which has now merged with other key capital markets publications from the Euromoney Institutional Investor Group.

It recognizes different companies in different sectors and across different markets in the region.
