MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is gearing up for the opening of its upcoming thrice weekly service between Davao and Manado, Indonesia.
The new service is expected to usher in plenty of opportunities for business and tourism.
PAL said the new route would increase tourism traffic between Manado and Philippine destinations such as Davao, Cebu and other tourist areas.
Manado, which is known for its famous marine tourist spots like the popular dive paradise Bunaken National Marine Park, is an 80 percent Christian community.
With the connectivity, PAL expects the route to provide ease in doing business with a shipping lane to transport goods to be made available.
PAL said the upcoming route interconnects Mindanao to key destinations in the BIMP-EAGA sub-region or the Brunei Darussalam - Indonesia - Malaysia - Philippines - East ASEAN Growth Area.
The flights are available every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday starting March 29.
“I’m very happy and excited about PAL starting service to Manado. This is a tremendous opportunity both for business and leisure. I’m pleased that both the Philippine and Indonesian governments are ready to provide support to making the route a success,” Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong Wee said.
PAL, the country’s only four-star global airline, has a network covering more than 30 domestic and 40 international destinations with a fleet of 98 advanced-technology aircraft.
