Astoria completes P1.5 B Boracay resort expansion

MANILA, Philippines — Local hotel chain Astoria Hotels & Resorts (AHR) has completed the P1.5 billion expansion of its second resort in Boracay Island, Astoria Current.

In a statement, AHR said the completion of the annex building now makes Astoria Current the hotel with the most number of rooms along Station 3.

In particular, Astoria Current now offers 205 rooms for tourists and holiday makers.

To achieve the island vibe in Astoria Current’s rooms, AHR tapped the service of award-winning Atelier Almario design firm.

Apart from having the most number of rooms, Astoria Current has new facilities including a function room and pool.

Astoria Current was one of the first resorts allowed to open by the Department of Tourism after complying with all the necessary environment and local ordinances.

The popular tourist island Boracay was closed for six months from April 26, for rehabilitation.

It was reopened to tourists on Oct. 26.

“We at Astoria Hotels & Resorts are proud to welcome guests to the renewed, revived Boracay Island at Astoria Current. We are one with the government in advocating for and implementing a more environment-friendly stay in the island so that Boracay will continue to be enjoyed by the future generations,” AHR president Jeffrey Ng said.

While the island’s closure posed a challenge to AHR, it was hardly felt by Astoria Current’s staff.

This, as they were reassigned for retraining and other purposes in other AHR properties including Astoria Palawan and Astoria Plaza in Ortigas Center during the six-month closure of Boracay.

“Caring for the environment and caring for your employees as family go hand-in-hand. These same staff members will be the one to make our guests have the most awesome holiday experience at Astoria Current,” Ng said.
