MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos in Macau are now able to enjoy homegrown Jollibee chicken and burgers with the opening of the very first Jollibee store there last week.
Macau, touted as the Las Vegas of Asia because of its giant casinos and glittering resorts, is home to an estimated 40,000 Filipinos.
Jollibee Foods Corp. inaugurated tis first Jollibee store in the Macau Special Administrative Region as part of its global expansion program.
“Today is an important milestone in our company’s journey to become one of the top five restaurant companies in the world,” JFC chief executive officer Ernesto Tanmantiong said in his speech during the formal store inauguration.
“Macau is home to over 40,000 Filipinos and we are only too happy to bring them ‘a taste of home’, as well as share Jollibee’s signature brand of great tasting food and friendly service with the warm people of Macau,” he added.
Jollibee has succeeded in the taste and preference of markets such as Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore and Hong Kong.
The milestone opening is part of JFC’s target to open 50 stores in Macau and Hong Kong in five years.
Through its global expansion, Jollibee has been able to provide 1,400 jobs to overseas Filipinos in different countries worldwide.
JFC has 12 brands with over 4,000 stores across 20 countries and continues to expand its network beyond the Philippines.
In 2013, Jollibee became the number one restaurant company in Asia in terms of market capitalization.
The fast food giant aims to be among the top five largest restaurant companies in the world through both organic expansion and partnerships.
