Sodexo mobilizes employees for CSR

MANILA, Philippines — Servathon, the corporate social responsibility program of Sodexo Philippines, has mobilized anew its employees all over the country to take part in nation building by conducting a Brigada Eskwela in Batangas and volunteer work at Virlanie Foundation.

“Every year, Sodexo looks for a way for all members of its organization to be more engaged in the local communities where they operate,” the company said.

For global companies such as Sodexo, programs like Servathon provides an opportunity for its employees to volunteer their own time and expertise and support issues that matter to them.

Based on Sodexo’s 2018 Global Workplace Trends report, which feature fresh insights to global workforce leaders and decision makers, CSR programs allow employees to be agents of change.

This year’s report focuses on seven interconnected topics with an overarching unifying theme: the need for collective intelligence across all workplace domains.

One of these trends is corporate responsibility and how employees are becoming change agents. For years, trends have evolved in the corporate responsibility space broadening the definition of what it means to be ‘responsible.’

In today’s business world, organizations need to be more than just economics – they also need to become actors of change around large-scale environmental and social problems.

However, responsible business is being nudged forward not only through business case logic, but because employees increasingly expect their employers to act responsibly. A recent survey revealed that many companies consider employees to be the most important stakeholder group that influence corporate responsibility strategies, after customers.

The trend also reveals that organizations must continue to provide opportunities for workers to support programs and issues that matter to them, understanding that companies need to relate to workforce on a human level that allow them to be true to themselves and respond to their need for purpose.
