MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is inviting interested firms to bid for the P65.09 billion Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 6 project.
In an invitation to pre-qualify and bid posted on its websiteyesterday, the DOTC said it is looking for local and internationalcompanies to participate in the bidding process for the project.
The project covers the proposed 19-kilometer (km) light rail linewhich will connect Bacoor and Dasmariñas in Cavite.
The line will have seven train stations in the following locations:Niyog (adjacent to the Niyog LRT Line 1 Cavite Extension Station), Tirona, Imus Transport Terminal, Daang Hari, Salitran, Congressional Avenue, and Governor’s Drive.
The project is expected to serve 45 percent of Cavite’s populationwith 200,000 commuters expected to use the line per day.
The private partner will be responsible for the architecturalengineering, systems design and construction of the 19-km rail line,as well as the procurement, testing and commissioning of the required rolling stock, equipment and support infrastructure.
It will likewise handle the operations and maintenance as well asproject enhancement works of the LRT Line 6.
The bidding for the project will follow a two-stage process whichmeans bidders will have to first be pre-qualified based on the minimum legal, technical and financial requirements set by thePre-qualification, Bids and Awards Committee (PBAC).
“Only bidders that have been pre-qualified or are deemed eligibleshall be invited to prepare and submit their Technical and FinancialProposals to the PBAC for evaluation,” the DOTC said.
