Empowering taxpayers on LGU real estate taxation

MANILA, Philippines - While the local government has the power to impose tax on its constituents under its jurisdiction, it is equally important that citizens understand their rights and remedies in case of wrongful or unjust imposition of taxes. The Center for Global Best Practices invites LGU officials, property taxpayers and administrators, business and land owners, accountants and lawyers in a one-day pioneering seminar titled, “Local Government and Real Estate Taxation,” scheduled on Oct. 23, 2015 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City.

This program is designed to address the clamor of many taxpayers and public officials who want to understand local government taxation and real estate taxation from the LGU level. One of the objectives of the seminar is to empower the citizenry to learn how to seek redress and find solutions should they be over-burdened by or saddled with multiple, excessive and unreasonable LGU fees and taxes. Another objective is to enlighten and educate local government officials with the right knowledge on LGU taxation so they can be more effective in their governance, administration and implementation of the LGU code.

This seminar will feature the partner in-charge of tax programs at the Center for Global Best Practices, Atty. Nicasio C. Cabaneiro. He is a recognized authority in the practice of taxation and commercial law with a track record and solid reputation of saving his clients across various industries billions in taxes. He has over 40 years of teaching experience and 25 years with Bank of Philippine Islands capping his career as its vice-president and head of the Legal Services Division.
