PAL punches in higher domestic ticket charges

MANILA, Philippines - Domestic ticketing service charge (TSC) will be increased by almost 50 percent starting next month, flag carrier Philippines Airlines (PAL) said.

All domestic tickets bought through PAL ticketing offices, contact centers and website will be charged P250 each (inclusive of 12 percent value added tax) for ticketing service from the current P168.

The 48 percent rise in service charge for tickets purchased through these channels will be increased effective Sept. 1.

“The move is being carried out to ensure that ticketing service charges are at par with industry standards,” the airline said.

Meanwhile, TSC for international flights remains the same at P504 or $12.

Such charges, which apply to all revenue and award tickets, form part of total ticket cost and cover payment for the ticketing process.

The petition was filed by PAL before the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) and was approved last August 13 under CAB Resolution 95 after the board found the rate increase reasonable and justified.
