MANILA, Philippines - Sales of Ford Philippines continued gaining speed in July, pushing the seven-month total to 12,132 units, up 15 percent from a year ago.
Ford said the company’s vehicle sales in July alone reached 1,705 units, driven by robust demand of its Ranger and EcoSport models.
“We’re pleased that our momentum continued through July as Filipinos show their confidence in the Ford brand and appreciation for the way our global Ford vehicles, particularly the Ranger and the EcoSport, are meeting their lifestyle and transportation needs,” Ford Philippines managing director Kay Hart said.
Hart said the Ranger remained the country’s best-selling pickup truck so far this year with July retail sales at 557 units, bringing its year-to-date sales up 24 percent to 4,884 units.
This month, Ford would unveil its new Ford Ranger model which promises to set a new benchmark in the pickup truck segment with its blend of robust capability, craftsmanship and advanced technology.
“The new Ford Ranger brings a whole new level of refinement and comfort to its segment without compromising on the rugged and tough capability that our Filipino customers expect. With our proud truck heritage and global expertise in the utility segment, we’ve made what is great even better,” said Hart, adding customer deliveries for the new model will start in September.
Another model exhibiting strong sales is Ford EcoSport, which achieved record sales in July with retail sales rising 59 percent to 833 units, delivering its best month since its launch in the Philippines last year.
Year-to-date sales of the compact SUV stood at 4,966 units.
The Ford Fiesta, meanwhile, also contributed to the strong July performance with sales reaching 153 units to help drive the model’s year-to-date sales to 867 units.
Ford is celebrating its 20th anniversary this month and is planning to re-open its Ford EDSA dealership–the first Ford dealership to open in the country two decades ago.
Ford said it is on track with its dealership network expansion plan to open 40 locations by yearend.
In addition, Ford said it is set to start retail sales of the all-new Everest in the first week of September.
“Arguably one of the automaker’s widely-popular SUVs, the all-new Everest marks a bold new direction for Ford in the mid-size SUV segment and is set to challenge what customers can expect from their traditional SUV. The seven-seater SUV blends strength, smart features and style to bring consumers a tough and versatile SUV with true off-road capability,” the company said.
