Philconstruct sets a new record in its silver anniversary

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s number one construction show, Philconstruct, set a new record for its 25th year when it welcomed a total of 75,921 trade visitors in just four days. The show was held simultaneously in three massive venues – the SMX Convention Center Manila, the World Trade Center Metro Manila, and the Philippine Trade Training Center – making it the biggest Philconstruct to date.

The event was organized through the joint efforts of Philconstruct Events, Exhibitions and Conferences Corp. (PEECC), and the Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. (PCA), with support from their partners, Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors, Inc. (ACEL), the Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines, Inc. (CFIP) and the Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Refrigerating Engineers, Inc. (PSVARE).

“We are truly overwhelmed at how this show has grown since 1990,” said Ronaldo Elepaño, Jr., overall event chairman of the Philconstruct series. “We started small with just 30 exhibitors then, but look at us now; we have more than a thousand.” This year, 1,214 exhibiting companies from 21 countries occupied over 1,400 booths or 41,000 square meters of show space.

Philconstruct was held alongside HVAC/R Philippines, the only air cooling and ventilating expo in the country organized by the Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-conditioning, and Refrigerating Engineers, Inc. (PSVARE). “It has been our mission to promote innovation and technologies that are environment-friendly,” said Cezar Punsalan, convention chairman of HVAC/R Philippines.

For 25 years now, Philconstruct has remained the home of the industry’s top suppliers. Among them are like its co-presenters Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines, Inc. and Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Co. and major sponsors CEMEX Philippines, Hilti Philippines Inc., Holcim Philippines, Lafarge and Qishu Heavy Equipment Corp. “Since we have partnered with Philconstruct in 2007, it is has been a shared goal to increase productivity in professionals and spread awareness towards the practice of green building and construction,” added Jim Bata, president of PSVARE.

The exhibit also featured a series of seminars called Technoforum.

In addition were technical seminars by ACEL at the World Trade Center.

Another feature is Estilo De Vida, the longest-running interior design competition in the country for budding Filipino interior designers. Romel Llona of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) bagged the championship trophy along with a P100,000 cash prize. Runners-up were Nelle Shasiana Sanchez and Jean Aivyl Dela Cruz both representing the University of Santo Tomas (UST).

“It was indeed a record-breaking success, and we are thankful for the overwhelming support from the exhibitors and visitors who really found time to visit us in three venues. We are nothing but excited to hold the next Philconstruct in 2015, and you can expect us to occupy 4 venues next year,” Elepaño said.

Philconstruct 2015 series will kick-off in Cebu on June 4 to 6, then in Davao on Sept. 4 to 6 and lastly in Manila, at an earlier date, on Oct. 8 to 11.
