Travellers to open 3 global hotel brands by 2017

MANILA, Philippines - Travellers International Hotel Group Inc. expects to open three globally-renowned hotel brands starting 2017 to boost its hotel business portfolio with 1,345 more rooms.

Travellers president Kingson U. Sian said Sheraton and Westin hotels of Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels & Resorts group as well as Hilton hotel are set to join the existing Marriott Hotel Manila as part of the company’s hotel portfolio expansion.

“Sheraton and Hilton will be an exciting addition to Resorts World Manila, which we target to complete by the fourth quarter of 2017. And Bayshore City Resorts World, which will have a Westin, is expected to open by the fourth quarter of 2018,” Sian said.

Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore is targeted to have about 600 rooms, while Sheraton Hotel Manila and Hilton Manila will have around 390 and 355 rooms, respectively.

Hilton and Sheraton hotels are currently under construction at Resorts World Manila, the country’s first integrated gaming, entertainment, leisure and hospitality resort situated on an 11.5-hectare property across the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

Aside from the upcoming Hilton and Sheraton, Sian said Marriott Hotel at Resorts World Manila, which currently enjoys some of the highest occupancy rates in Metro Manila, is currently adding a new wing that would have an additional 228 rooms.

The Westin hotel, meanwhile, will be part of Bayshore City Resorts World in Entertainment City scheduled to break ground this year.

Travellers said Marriott, together with the Starwood, and Hilton Hotel Brands, have been recently commended in a survey jointly conducted by US magazines Fortune and Travel + Leisure.

Marriott was regarded as having the best hotel loyalty program in the world, while Starwood’s and Hilton’s ranked second and third, respectively, Travellers reported.

“The Fortune and Travel + Leisure report validates that we have partnered with the best hotel brands in the world, and we are delighted to know that seasoned business travellers recognize the superiority of these brands, especially in terms of taking care of their loyal customers,” Sian said.

“All our additional hotels are from brands that are known to offer all the amenities most valued by discerning travellers like the readers of Fortune and Travel + Leisure,” he added.

Travellers, a joint venture of property tycoon Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group Inc. and Genting Hong Kong Ltd., is the owner and operator of Resorts World Manila and upcoming integrated resort Bayshore City Resorts World.

Bayshore City Resorts World will be three times the size of Resorts World Manila and will be the last integrated resort complex scheduled to start operations in Entertainment City.
