DOTC eyes negotiated contract for NAIA runway project consultant

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) is set to negotiate a P67 million contract for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) runway optimization project after two failed biddings.

In an invitation to negotiate, DOTC Assistant Secretary Jaime Raphael Feliciano said the agency’s bids and awards committee – negotiating team would undertake a negotiated procurement for the hiring of a consultant for the project which went through two failed biddings.

“The DOTC aims to improve the airside capacity of NAIA through the NAIA runway optimization project. This includes increasing runway movements, improving slot schedules, adding infrastructure and upgrading technology,” the agency said.

He pointed out that the consultants would be tasked to set clear and achievable targets to improve the existing operations taking into account the future plans for NAIA and other relevant airports.

Furthermore, he added that the consultants would assist in the implementation of their recommendations.

Interested consultants would have until Sept. 5 to submit their eligibility documents as well as their technical and financial proposals.
