MANILA, Philippines - The peso gained 42.5 centavos on Thursday, closing at 44.31 from Tuesday's $44.735.
Total volume transacted at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $1.293 billion, higher than the $887.1 billion posted the previous trading day.
The peso opened Thursday at 44.55.
