DOT promotes adventure tourism

MANILA, Philippines - The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing arm of the Department of Tourism, has forged a partnership with top performance outdoor footwear branch Merrell to further promote adventure tourism in the Philippines.

TPB chief operating officer Domingo Ramon Enerio III said DOT and Merrell will engage in a number of promotional campaigns that would highlight beautiful and exciting trail and adventure travel sites in the country.

Starting with “Gateway to Adventure” campaign, Merrell would also launch its new AllOut Collection.

In line with DOT’s popular tagline “It’s More Fun in the Philippines, the TPB decided to support and dovetail with the promotion of Merrell’s world-renowned products and advocacy for sports safety and security in the development of affordable tour packages to highlight the Philippines’ many great outdoors and ecotourism destinations through this campaign.

“Our country is truly blessed with air, land and water adventure destinations in our more than 7,107 tropical islands. Every Filipino and every adventure destination has its own distinct attractions and activities. In some cases, the attractions and activities complement each other in different destinations,” Enerio said.

“Our air adventure includes sky diving, ultralight flying, helicopter sightseeing, hot air ballooning and paragliding. Our land adventure has mountain biking, rock climbing, trekking, cave exploration, bird watching, nature camping as well as natural and cultural tours. Our water adventure tops the list of amazing activities with scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking, white water rafting, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, surfing plus swimming with the whale sharks in Donsol and Oslob, dugong-sea cow spotting in Palawan, dolphin watching in Negros are some of the supplementary adventure activities waiting for visitors to our islands,” the TPB official said.
