MANILA, Philippines - Ayala Land Inc. announced the appointent of Bernard Vicent “Bobby†Dy as the the new president and chief executive of one of the country’s leading property firms.
The 50-year-old Dy will replace Antonino Aquino, who will continue to serve as director and member of the executive committee of the ALI board.
The board of ALI approved Wednesday the succession plan based on the recommendation of its nomination and personnel and compensation committees.
The appointment will take effect immediately following the company’s stockholders’ meeting on April 7.
“We are confident that Bobby Dy’s experience with the company over the past 17 years will keep the company on its growth trajectory.
He has overseen major transformative programs over his career with land and residential development, commercial and retail leasing and most recently, as overall chief operating officer,†said Fernando Zobel De Ayala, chairman of ALI.
Dy joined ALI in 1997 and has held various leadership positions. In 2003, he was assigned to Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. and spearheaded the transformation of Bonifacio Global City into the dynamic business district that it is today.
He was also credited for ALI’s successful entry into new and affordable segments in 2006.
In 2012, the commercial business was also placed under his helm during which new retail products were developed.
Zobel de Ayala, meanwhile, lauded Aquino for his “exceptional leadership throughout his 34-year career at the Ayala group.â€
“Under his leadership, he dramatically improved the operating efficiency and profitability of Manila Water, which enabled it to make continuous service improvements in its concession area.
He came back to Ayala Land in 2009 a t a critical period when the broader business environment was challenged by uncertainties. He shaped a clear plan for ALI and redefined its businesses,†Zobel de Ayala said.
