MANILA, Philippines - SM Retail Inc., the retail unit of the mall and banking conglomerate, is nearing the century mark for its Savemore supermarkets.
The company, which operates the department and food stores of the SM Group, said it has further expanded into Mindanao with the opening of Savemore Market in Gen. Santos City.
“We continue to expand aggressively in key areas of the country, taking into consideration the steady population growth and shifting preferences of the market,†said Savemore president Jojo Tagbo.
The 94th Savemore in the country is located along Nunez St., Purok Malakas, Brgy. San Isidro. In Southern Philippines, SM operates 39 Hypermarkets, 94 Savemore stores and 39 SM Supermarkets.
Aside from Savemore, the SM conglomerate is present in the city through its mall, SM City Gen. Santos that opened in 2012.

Quick bites are also available from Savemore’s tenants including Master Siomai, Takuyaki, Waffle Time, Buko Juan and Porky Best, among others.
The food group of SM Retail has three store formats: SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket and Savemore, which is the group’s fast-expanding vehicle for introducing organized retail in areas where there is either a limited offer of products or none at all, the company said.
Savemore also offers SM Bonus items as well as various promos and discounts like Buy One Get One, SWIPE, Valuepack, and Yellow Tag.
