PLDT maintains lead in broadband market

MANILA, Philippines - A unit of dominant carrier Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) is expected to further cement its dominance in the local home broadband market as subscribers continued to post double-digit growth.

Ariel Fermin, executive vice president of PLDT HOME and head of Home Business, said the company controls a dominant 70 percent share in the local home broadband market with PLDT myDSL and myBRO broadband solutions occupying the first and second spots among broadband services.

“We expect to sustain this robust double-digit performance as we aggressively expand our customer base,” he said.

He pointed out that PLDT HOME continues to deliver superior value and unmatched customer use experience by providing services that tailor-fit the connectivity needs of subscribers.

Aside from myDSL and myBro, PLDT HOME also offers the ultra-fast Fibr service to over 800 exclusive subdivisions across the country including Forbes Park, Dasmarinas Village, Ayala Alabang, Greenhills, Valle Verde, White Plains, and Greenmeadows as well as in Cebu including Cebu Royale Estate and Beverly Hills and Davao through Don Lorenzo subdivision.

Fibr which is PLDT’s most powerful broadband, provides connection speeds of up to 100 mbps allowing subscribers to stream high-definition content, play lag-free online games, and adopt seamless cloud computing.

â€œWe have also added more content into our Fibr service. We have partnered with clickplay.ph to deliver Hollywood blockbusters movies on demand of our subscribers. We are also making available the highly-popular EA Games and Smart Music to our subscribers,” he added.

According Fermin, Fibr customers also have access to HD shows from PLDT’s Cignal TV.
