PCCI, CCPI ink MOU with Thai agency to boost trade relations

MANILA, Philippines - The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has joined hands with business groups Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Chamber of Commerce of the Philippine Islands (CCPI) to conduct information exchange and business missions to expand existing trade relations between Thailand and the Philippines.

Supawan Teerarat, TCEB vice president for strategic and business development said in a press conference following the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held yesterday, the three parties would work to enhance the trade relations of the two countries.

The MOU was signed by TCEB president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai, PCCI president Miguel Varela and CCPI president Jose Luis Yulo Jr.

“With the MOU, the focus of the TCEB, PCCI and CCPI will be to have exchange of information on the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) sector as well as trade. Then we will have business missions to both countries,” Supawan said.

The parties, she added, would also cooperate in encouraging more businesses to participate in trade shows held in Thailand.

She noted that as early as next week, the TCEB would meet travel agents in Manila to discuss incentives that could be given to attract more businesses to take part in trade shows hosted by Thailand.

At present, the TCEB is encouraging participants to attend trade shows through its 100-A-Head program where a group visitor promoter could get $100 for every delegate attending the exhibition when it brings at least 15 people for a minimum stay of three days and two nights.

The TCEB decided to cooperate with Philippine business groups as Thailand considers the Philippines as an important trade partner.
