Waterfront allots P500M for Mla Pavilion renovation

MANILA, Philippines - Manila Pavilion Hotel is undergoing a P500-million facelift that will develop guest preference for the hotel.

Hotel operator Waterfront Philippines Inc. said the amount would be used  to renovate its rooms and suites.

“The end result of this program will increase the room revenue of the hotel by 50 percent, as a result of more expected bookings from premium corporate and travel clients,” Waterfront told the local stock exchange.

The hotel operator said 250 superior rooms and suites at the lower floors, as well as for the upgrade of function rooms and food and beverage facilities, will be renovated.

To date, the company has completed the second phase of its facelift program covering 223 upper floor rooms and suites.

The redevelopment allowed Waterfront to offer a new set of exclusive Ambassador Club rooms that will enhance the hotel’s position in the corporate market, and two new Presidential Suites.

Waterfront said the renovation cost  was backed by a combination of internally-generated cash and external sources.

“As one of the pioneering hotels in the country, we see ourselves as pioneers for steadfast innovations to meet and beat competition,” said Manila Pavilion general manager Christopher Park.

Waterfront said the room themes were developed to maximize guest satisfaction “in order to generate repeat bookings, while keeping room maintenance costs to minimum levels.”

Manila Pavilion, which is adjacent to historic sites and various entertainment hubs, also houses the Casino Filipino Pavilion at the first three floors of the hotel.

Waterfront, for its part, is a listed hotel chain with presence in the key cities of the country.

Waterfront’s portfolio in Manila consists of Manila Pavilion and G Hotel that are adjacent to Roxas Blvd.

It also operates Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino and Waterfront Airport Hotel & Casino Mactan in Cebu, and Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao in Davao.

In total, the company operates close to 1,500 rooms, employs 1,500 employees and has more than 41,000 square meters of convention and gaming space.
