Yokohama Rubber starts phase 2 of Phl expansion

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines  â€“ The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd., will start in May this year phase II of an expansion program for its local subsidiary Yokohama Tire Philippines Inc. (YTPI).

With a total investment of 11 billion yen or P4.8 billion, the expansion will enable the company to increase by 2.5 million tires its annual production capacity. This will bring its annual capacity to 12.5 million tires.

In January 2011, Yokohama Rubber announced its plan to expand the capacity of YTPI from seven million to 17 million tires by 2017.

According to the plan, Yokohama Rubber would invest 20 billion yen or P8.7 billion for phase I to increase the capacity by three million tires a year by 2013. Phase II aims to increase the capacity to 13 million by 2014.
