Gerry's Grill expands in Singapore, Qatar

MANILA, Philippines - Prime Pacific Grill Inc.(PPGI), the operator of popular casual dining restaurant chain Gerry’s Grill, has opened a second branch in Singapore, a year after opening its first outlet at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

The new branch is a full-sized restaurant located at Cuppage Road. The 80-seater full dine-in restaurant offers popular Filipino dishes such as sizzling sisig, crispy pata and bulalo.

Next month, a free-standing Gerry’s Grill will be opened in Qatar.

PPGI chief executive officer and president Gerry Apolinario said majority of customers in Singapore are Filipino expatriates while 40 percent are tourists and locals. Gerry’s Grill is the only Filipino brand among 25 international food chains in Marina Bay Sands Hotel food court.

“Our first branch in Singapore is located in a food court and given limitations in space could only accomodate select menu items. This time, the have a full restaurant. We are most grateful to Pinoy OFWs who have patronized us at Marina Bay, which has made the second branch possible,” he said.

With the addition of the two new branches, Gerry’s Grill now has five branches overseas, including two in the United States.

Apolinario said with the expansion, the company aims to make Filipino food mainstream like Thai food.

“It’s about time. We have what it makes to be a global culinary leader,” he said.

In the last quarter of 2004, Gerry’s Grill branches were opened in SM City in Pampanga, Greenbelt 3 at the Ayala Center, Laoag, and Nuvali in Santa Rosa, bringing the total to 47. This year, a branch will also be opened in Zamboanga.
